Software solutions for intelligent farm management

Working time is a valuable commodity for every farm manager, since time also means wages and work area. This is why AGCO/Fendt are always involved in finding technical solutions that help customers to save working time. In collaboration with our partners, we are pleased to announce two new solutions for 2017 and 2018.

• agrirouter™ (DKE)
• NEXT Wayline Converter

The new agrirouter™: An open approach to data transfer

To date, farms with mixed fleets have been unable to transfer data in the vehicle fleet. The agrirouter™ makes data transfer and operating processes easier, reduces admin work, and increases efficiency. Agrirouter™ is a data transfer platform, with which farmers and contractor can seamlessly transfer data between their machines and agricultural software applications.

For Fendt customers, agrirouter™ means more versatile use of the Fendt VarioDoc Pro documentation system. From November 2017, all Fendt 500 Vario models up to the Fendt 1000 Vario in the ProfiPlus configuration will include the VarioDoc Pro documentation system. This makes transferring data between different machines from field databases which are linked via agrirouter™ easy as 1-2-3.

Prospective agrirouter™ users can register from Agritechnica 2017 onwards, and then set up their personal agrirouter™ on a PC, tablet or smartphone by linking to their machines and software. Official launch will be in spring 2018.

The solution can be controlled and used via any web-enabled device. The user compiles his personal agrirouter™ and using rules, specifies who may exchange data with whom and to what extent. Basic settings are set just once, and simplify handling, but can be changed at any time. Linking your own machines to agrirouter™ can be done via the VarioDoc Pro interface in the machine.

A retrofitted solution for existing machines is also an option. The available communication units as well as the compatible agricultural software applications are listed in a publicly accessible market place.

Data security and data control

The user can determine what happens to his data at any time. All activities are compliant with the current data protection directives, or go significantly further with regard to security. The following always applies: agrirouter™ transports data, but does not store it permanently.

Agrirouter™ is a product of GmbH & Co. KG. At present (in alphabetical order), AGCO, Amazone, Deutz-Fahr, Grimme, Horsch, Krone, Kuhn, Lemken, Pöttinger and Rauch are members of this non-profit initiative. Each member of the consortium has a vote.

NEXT Wayline Converter: Use waylines and field boundaries on all vehicles.

Today, many customers have steering systems from different manufacturers. Nonetheless, they wish to use the same waylines and field boundaries on all vehicles. While farm contractors may be provided with details of waylines and field boundaries by their customers, but they may be using different steering systems.

Until now, the problem for many customers was that all manufacturers of GNSS-based steering systems used different formats for the exchange of geodata. As a consequence, there is a lack of compatibility between the waylines and field boundaries of different manufacturers. However, especially with new requirements such as Strip Till or Controlled Traffic, the practical significance of this exchange of data is growing.

FarmFacts, a company jointly owned by BayWa AG and the AGCO Corporation (NYSE: AGCO), have now developed the new NEXT Wayline Converter - powered by Fuse®.

This new, web-based tool enables the converter to convert data from one brand to another. This enables the farmer to view geographical data from different sources and to exchange data between the various different machine terminals, e.g. straight-line waylines or field boundaries.

The new wayline converter is able to process existing manufacturer-independent data formats from the following guidance systems:

  • AGCO’s VarioGuide™ (Fendt)
  • AGCO’s Auto-Guide™ (Challenger, Massey Ferguson, Valtra, Gleaner)
  • Topcon Auto Steering System - supports AGCO C 3000 Shape files, only version 3.17 (no support for the aftermarket version 3.22)
  • CNH - supports Voyager I & II
  • Trimble Guidance Systems - supports AgGPS
  • John Deere AutoTrac System
    - supports GS3 2630
    - supports John Deere Greenstar™. The data can be imported and can be converted into all AGCO data formats; however, AGCO data cannot be converted into the Greenstar format.
    - It remains the case that Greenstar™ data can only be converted into KML, Shape and ISOXML data formats.
  • ISOXML & ISOXML Version 2 file format (taskdata.xml)

The manufacturer-independent use of waylines delivers farmers and contractors a substantial reduction in operating and tooling costs.

AGCO customers are provided with access to the NEXT Wayline Converter and log themselves onto the FarmFacts website, where they can convert their data quickly and easily. NEXT Wayline Converter will be available to all Fendt customers after Agritechnika 2017.
