Fendt Katana 650 wins Innovation Award at Fieragricola 2020

At the Fieragricola 2020 in Verona, the Fendt Katana 650 received the "Silver Leaf" innovation award. The agricultural fair, which focuses on grassland and viticulture technology, is organised by Veronafiere in collaboration with "Edizioni L'Informatore Agrario".

l.t.r. - Daniele Salvagno (Member of the board of Directors Veronafiere), Antonio Boschetti (Director Informatore Agrario), Andrea Visentini (Commercial Manager Fendt Italy), Alessandro Mianzan (Harvesting Sales Engineer Fendt Italy) and Maurizio Danese (President Veronafiere)

The prize contest is intended to highlight farming machinery or devices which display outstanding innovatory elements.

The Commission of experts chosen by Edizioni L'Informatore Agrario assessed the content of the innovation, focusing mainly on the existence of genuinely innovative and original product content, as well as on its impact on environmental and economic sustainability, plus improvement of product quality and the general functionality of the product from the end user’s point of view. Overall, 21 Innovation Leafs were awarded, 10 of them golden and 11 silver.

Fendt Katana 650

The Fendt Katana 650 represents a new generation of forage harvesters, outstanding in terms of providing greater productivity and more sustainable processing. With an increase in engine power of 25 HP, it reaches a nominal power of 650 HP with the well-known MTU 6-cylinder in-line engine. The air flow is controlled by adjusting the angle of incidence of each individual fan blade, thus ensuring the constant availability of the required cooling power, determined by various factors. Thanks to the fan’s reverse function, the radiator is cleaned of deposits and fine dust, and the automatic control considerably lightens the operator's work.

The Fendt Katana 650 is available with two new grain cracker rollers. These increase the cut-length of the forage harvester by up to 30 mm, and both the infeed and the complete product flow are adapted to the new cut-length. This optimises the infeed, and the contact surface is increased by the 300 mm diameter rollers. With these grain crackers the machinery requires less power and therefore less fuel.

The Fendt Katana 650’s intelligent BalancedGrip four-wheel drive system ensures greater grip, especially on steep slopes, and prevents wheel-slipping thank to a very low front axle load. On sloping areas, the front axle is subjected to less load, so the Fendt BalancedGrip actively regulates the transmission torque between the front and rear axles to prevent the wheels from slipping. Having torque automatically reduced on slopes brings a further boost to the Fendt Katana’s off-road performance.
