As the reigning European champions, the German WEINELF team brought the 5th European Football Championship of Winegrowers 2016 to Rheinhessen and the Rheingau.

The cultural assets football and wine have been united for more than 5 years in this major sports and cultural event. Winegrowers from six countries, Germany, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland and Hungary, meet every other year for the European Football Championship of Winegrowers. Only winegrowers compete for this title. In addition to the exciting and high-acclaimed tournament, the winegrow-ers also present their wines in the wine village in front of the stadium. Fendt and RWZ exhibited their narrow track tractors within the framework of this event. “The entire national and international wine industry meets here for three days. This was therefore a must-go event for the RWZ and Fendt this year,” says Gerald Hosinger, Managing Director of the Technik-Gruppe Rheinhessen-Pfalz.

The German Weinelf team was not able to defend their title, but it was very close. In the 90th minute, Slovenia shot a goal for a final score of 3:2 and Slovenia be-came the new European champion.
