Fendt 728 Vario achieves top score in DLG PowerMix test

The top model of the new 700 Vario series (Gen7), the Fendt 728 Vario, was tested for performance, efficiency and fuel consumption in the independent DLG PowerMix test. The result is clear: the Fendt 728 Vario is impressive in all field cycles and in transport on the road with the best values, placing it at the top of the 300 hp class.

The Fendt 728 Vario is the most economical tractor in comparison with previously tested tractors in the 240 to 305 hp power sector. With a consumption of 242 g/kWh (+ 24.2 g/kWh AdBlue) in the field, it consumes 15 g/kWh less than the comparable competitor’s machine at 257 g/kWh (+16 g/kWh).

During transport work at a speed of 40 km/h, the Fendt 728 Vario achieves a peak value of 332 g/kWh (+ 33 g/kWh AdBlue) in its class up to 300 hp and so consumes 16 g/kWh less than the next best competitor machine. At a speed of 50 km/h, the Fendt 728 Vario consumes 336 g/kWh (+ 33 g/kWh AdBlue), which is only 4 g more than at 40 km/h. During transport at 60 km/h, the tractor consumes only 338 g/kWh (+ 33 g/kWh AdBlue). The low fuel consumption significantly reduces fuel costs, especially for frequent transport operations, such as harvesting, transporting feed or travelling long distances between jobs.

Powerful and economical on the go

“The Fendt 728 Vario is the top machine for professional farmers worldwide! The outstanding results of the independent DLG PowerMix test show that our engineering team has developed a highly efficient all-rounder. With the best values in the field and only 332 g/kWh in transport, the Fendt 728 Vario is a leader in all disciplines,” says Roland Schmidt, Vice President Fendt Marketing. “The combination of power and low fuel consumption makes it possible for farmers to work economically and to also protect the environment. With only 338 g/kWh consumption at 60 km/h, our Fendt 728 Vario sets a new benchmark in fuel efficiency.”

Thanks to the perfect interplay of technologies, such as the Fendt iD low-speed concept, the VarioDrive drive train with pull-in turn effect and the AGCO Power CORE75 engine specially developed for this machine, the 700 top model is not only ideally designed for use in the field, but also performs transport work at high speed and with low fuel consumption.

Fendt Tractors in the DLG PowerMix Test

Of all the tractors ever tested in the independent DLG PowerMix, five Fendt tractors are in the top six places. Most recently, the Fendt 942 Vario with exhaust emission level V achieved a best value of 237 g/kWh in the DLG PowerMix Test 2.0 in 2019.

About the DLG PowerMix

In the PowerMix Test 2.0 of the German Agricultural Society (DLG, Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft), tractors are tested for their fuel and Adblue consumption under typical workloads on a rolling test bench to determine their energy efficiency. In addition to 12 load cycles in the field, such as draft work with a plough or cultivator, PTO and mixed work, the efficiency of the tractor is also measured in two load cycles during transport work on the road. The Fendt 728 Vario is impressive in all disciplines.
