Passion for agricultural machines was always a big part of Alan’s life, and so he decided at the age of 25 to open his own workshop on his farm in Thornbury, Devon. Thanks to his reliability, his customer base grew steadily and his good reputation meant that he became an authorised maintenance and service centre for Fendt products, just three years after opening. In 1989, he moved with his family to Sutcombe near Holsworthy, and expanded his company by building a new site there. Within three years, Alan became a fully-authorised Fendt dealer. Alan, his wife Di and his team have worked hard to become one of the most experienced and respected Fendt dealers in England.

“I can remember the first Fendt I sold very clearly. It was a Fendt Farmer 312 LSA, which I sold to a local contractor. Since then he’s bought three Fendt tractors from us. Many of our early customers are still customers and have stayed loyal to Fendt.”, says Alan Snow. “In my experience, a farmer will stick with Fendt once he’s decided to buy his first one. The excellent resale value is a huge factor in these decisions. It’s just buying the first one that hurts a bit.”, jokes Snow.

His own family uses the Fendt brand of course. “The best example is our ‘Black Beauty’, says Alan Snow. “It’s a unique 936 with special black paint, which I used to drive my daughter Becky to her wedding when she married James Hale in 2007.”

Thanks to his dedicated staff, loyal customers and suppliers, his company has grown beyond his wildest dreams. Looking to the future, it’s always rewarding for him and is a kind of affirmation to see so many Fendt tractors in the fields in Cornwall.
