DLG trainees visit Fendt

On 9 May, 13 trainees from the German Agricultural Society (DLG) visited Fendt, taking the opportunity to personally chat with Fendt employees.

After a traditional Weisswurst sausage breakfast in Fendt Forum’s Dieselross restaurant, the trainees started off their day with a tour of the Fendt factory. This gave the group an up-close impression of tractor production in Marktoberdorf. The guests were welcomed by Roland Schmidt, Vice President Fendt Marketing, who, 20 years ago, was the first DLG trainee Fendt ever having been hired. Even during the company presentation, the DLG trainees were eager to ask questions about the Fendt Full-Line strategy and the requirements of the various markets. Among them, Lukas Kersten, who wanted to know about current developments on the Russian market. Andrea Helbig, Manager HR Human Potential, gave advice to the new recruits about kick-starting their career.

"I think it's great that we can ask critical and very specific questions and I appreaciate the chance to personally chat with staff and managers at Fendt," said Felix Schulte, excited about the experience. "I was also very impressed with the expert knowledge and in-depth explanations given during the Fendt factory tour."

In the second part of the visit, Roland Schmidt spoke about the Fendt 2020 Strategy and its impact on the Marketing department. "A new structure always brings new challenges. I have a great team who are evolving with these changes and as a team we gladly rise to the occasion," said Roland Schmidt. He emphasised that Fendt puts its employees first, because you can only overcome mammoth tasks with a workforce who is ready to take responsibility and he motivated the trainees to do the same. "Get involved, have your say and take responsibility! The farming industry needs new managers who want to drive changes forward," rallied Schmidt.

In a discussion session with the Marketing team, the DLG trainees again had the chance to ask questions about the work and practical processes at Fendt. A lively debate ensued between the guests and the Fendt employees, and it was clear that the Fendt employees were confronted with very similar questions before they embarked on their own careers.

Afterwards, Juliane Schulze Entrup said: "I really enjoyed the discussion round, because it gave me a lot of personal and honest insights into working at Fendt and I realised just how motivated the employees are." At the end of her traineeship, she hopes to return to the Münster region and work on her family farm to rear pigs and manage a biogas plant. "I'm really interested in future topics – farmers always get excited about innovative solutions because we want to constantly move forward in farming," she went on to explain.
