New camera system for Fendt combine harvesters

Controlling large combine harvesters in combination with a header trailer is challenging. Firstly, roads are often narrow or winding, and secondly, drivers cannot easily see the rear part of the machine and the header trailer. Fixed cameras and side mirrors cannot cover the entire area behind the machine when cornering and lose sight of the header trailer. Fendt has developed the new, autodynamic DYNAMIC SMART VISION camera system for tracking the header trailer. Other innovations for the Fendt combines include Fendt TI Headland, a dust extraction system as well as more power for the Fendt IDEAL 7 and new tyre options.

Intelligent rear camera for Fendt combine harvesters

The camera system uses a software algorithm with artificial intelligence specially developed by AGCO that recognises the header trailer and follows it autonomously as it travels. When making turns, the camera automatically pans along so that the header trailer is in focus at all times and displays the images in HD quality on the terminal screen. This makes it possible to identify possible obstacles much more precisely. Manual alignment or adjustment of the camera by the driver is not necessary. This allows drivers to keep an eye on the header trailer and the surroundings at all times and to react actively to obstacles, even if they are not in the angle of view of the mirrors or a static camera. The tilting camera eliminates the blind spot. This significantly reduces the risk of accidents with damage to the machine. The installation can be carried out easily at freely selectable mounting points.

The camera is compatible with all AGCO brands of combine harvester.

Updates for the Fendt IDEAL series

The 9.8 litre AGCO Power engine of the Fendt IDEAL 7 series now has 476 hp (350 kW) thanks to a new turbocharger. That is 25 hp more power than before. This enables drivers to achieve higher performance, which has a positive effect, for example, when harvesting tall crops or in hilly terrain.

A dust extraction system for the Fendt IDEAL models was developed especially for crops and regions with a high level of dust generation. The dust is sucked in at the crop elevator and blown out to the side. This reduces dust accumulation in front of the driver and improves visibility of the cutterbar and crop flow during harvesting.

An optional swivelling spout for the unloading auger is available for all Fendt IDEAL models. If the combine is unloading, a 40° swivel radius allows the trailer to be filled more evenly, even if the trailer does not travel centrally under the unloading auger. The swivelling spout is available for both Streamer 140 and Streamer 210 unloading augers. Likewise, four conveyor chains on the crop elevator now replace the previously available three conveyor chains for the Fendt IDEAL 7 and 8 models. The additional intake chain increases the infeed capacity of the crop elevator and thus the throughput.

Starting immediately, the Fendt TI Headland headland management system replaces the Fendt VariotronicTI Turn Assistant on all Fendt IDEAL models. This means that the full range of functions of the headland management can be used. The turning modes – part-field mode, keyhole and U-turn for easier working – are still included in the range of functions. Fendt TI Headland avoids imprecise turns, saves valuable time and relieves the driver.

Customers can now order a Fendt IDEAL toolbox with all the tools they need for regular maintenance. This is delivered directly from the factory with the machine.

Innovations for the Straw walker combine harvesters

An additional kit with a new camera system is now available for the Fendt CORUS 500 straw walker models and the Fendt L series. For the Fendt CORUS 522 and 526 models, a new compressed air system including hose and nozzle is added.

Customers of the Fendt CORUS 500 series now have a choice of new tyres. The rear axle tyres of the Fendt CORUS 522 and 526 models with rear-wheel drive and the Fendt 518, 522 and 526 models with all-wheel drive can now be fitted with 540/65R24 tyres. These tyres are also available for the L and C Series machines, except for the Fendt C SL model.
