Detailed view of the Fendt CAS cooling concept

Efficient cooling with the Concentric Air System (CAS)

The proven Fendt CAS cooling concept is now also being introduced into the Fendt 800 Vario series. The concentric, forced-air fan has an independent, hydrostatic drive and is designed for outdoor temperatures up to 113°F. Thanks to its extremely narrow and compact design, it allows for a high turning angle, making it a decisive factor for the extraordinary manoeuvrability of the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5.

Each component of the cooling package can control the cooling system individually as required, thus gaining additional efficiency. Compared to other cooling systems, the CAS requires up to 40% less drive power – which makes it particularly efficient and noticeably reduces fuel consumption.

Intelligence combined with performance: The VarioDrive drivetrain

VarioDrive is already known from both the large-scale series and the medium performance segment of Fendt. The drive train stands for stepless, dynamic driving at any speed from 0.02 to 37 mph, an independent, variable four-wheel drive up to 15.5 mph and a smallest possible turning circle thanks to the pull-in turn effect. The result: maximum soil protection, higher efficiency and less wear on the machine.

The pull-in turn effect reduces the turning circle by up to 10%. This allows for easier and more precise maneuvering. In addition, with VarioDrive, power transmission remains tension-free even when cornering, which ensures maximum protection of the soil – in particular the topsoil and the grass sward in the grassland.

Fendt Torque Distribution provides permanent tractive power by intelligently distributing the torque to the axle with the best grip. This minimises the slippage, the tractor has maximum traction and optimum power transmission.

Added to this is the extended replacement interval of the transmission oil. Only after 4,000 operating hours or every 4 years must the transmission oil of the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 be changed – this reduces maintenance costs.

Display of the engine and cab air filter in the Fendt 800 Vario

Self-cleaning engine and cab air filters – a clean solution

The automatic self-cleaning of the engine and cab air filter is done permanently, passively by the vacuum of the engine fan. This is complemented by short, situational blasts of air that actively blow out the engine air filter. This keeps maintenance effort low, operational safety high and at the same time you and the engine always have a clean and good air supply.

The reversible fan ensures a constant supply of fresh air. By changing the direction of rotation, the current direction of the air can change and thus frees the bonnet of dirt and particles such as dust or straw – nothing stands in the way of intensive applications.

PTO & Hydraulics

Thanks to the four-speed PTO and impressive hydraulic power, the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 is powerful, flexible and reliable even for intensive applications. Wide precision seed drills, large mower combinations or voluminous slurry tankers – implements with high hydraulic performance requirements or demanding PTO power are no problem for the tractor, which means that it can be utilised optimally.
CGI view of hydraulic lines in the Fendt 800 Vario

Reliable hydraulic performance

The Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 does not lack hydraulic options: two hydraulic oil pumps with 165 m/l or 220 l/min flow rates are available. You can also choose the two hydraulic oil pumps together to equip the tractor according to your requirements. Together, they provide a volume flow rate of up to 385 l/min – ideal for demanding implements. The demand-oriented conveying capacity (pressure and volume) ensures maximum efficiency, even when several consumers are used in parallel. The additional hydraulic oil cooler ensures maximum performance even at high ambient temperatures.

In order to relieve the hydraulics and further increase efficiency, the system can be extended with Power-Beyond, for a direct oil supply of the implements with the full volume flow of the hydraulic pump. With the easy-to-clean Power-Beyond variant with flat-face coupling (FFC), the hydraulic system is additionally protected against dirt ingress and you benefit from even lower power loss.

Flexibility on front and rear valves

The Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 can be equipped with the required number of valves in the front and rear. The maximum equipment includes up to eight double-acting valves – two in the front, six in the rear. This makes the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 flexible for a wide variety of implements and applications in agriculture, grassland and on the road, which allows you to maximise the tractor’s utilisation. Valve variants:

  • UDK couplings: can be coupled under pressure with 140 m/l flow rate
  • DCUP couplings: double-sided, can be coupled under pressure, with 140 m/l or 170 l/min flow rate
  • FFC couplings: flat-sealing couplings with 140 m/l or 170 l/min flow rate

Four-speed and three-speed rear PTO

The rear PTO offers either four speeds 540/540E/1000/1000E or three speeds 540/900/1000. This allows you to equip the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 individually for your requirements. The connection of the crankshaft and the PTO stub is carried out via only one gear stage and thus achieves a very high efficiency. With the four-speed PTO, the machine always works at the optimum operating point and can deliver more area performance or work in a fuel-saving manner, depending on the requirements. The main application areas of the three-speed PTO are implements that are operated with a slightly reduced maximum PTO speed of 900 rpm and have very high, continuous torque requirements, such as wood chippers. A special transmission stage ensures that the motor of the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 runs as close as possible to the nominal engine speed of 1,700 rpm – for maximum power and torque values.

Automatic function and stationary mode

The automatic function of the Fendt 800 Vario Gen5 enables simplified operation and efficiency. Switching the rear PTO on and off can be assigned to a button on the control lever and occurs automatically at predefined positions of the power lift. The switch-off point of the PTO is controlled via the position of the rear power lift. In normal mode, the PTO is automatically switched off as soon as the driver leaves the seat. In stationary mode, on the other hand, the rear PTO remains active, even if the driver is not on the seat.
