What’s new in Fendt tractors

Because customer's needs change and grow, Fendt continuously develops its machines and solutions. Fendt is offering numerous new features for tractors at the same time. These innovations include VarioFlex dual tyres, the steering joystick Fendt ErgoSteer, a mobile assembly aid for wheel weights and a central telemetry system for the compact tractors from the Fendt 200 Vario series.

VarioFlex dual tyres 2.5

More traction, less slippage and better soil protection are the advantages of classic dual tyres. In the past, large tractors with dual tyres quickly reached the legal limits for the outside width of the machine, with a 3-metre stub axle, for example. The additional set of dual tyres, including reinforced special rims with severely limited usage times, also led to high costs and time-consuming installation. With VarioFlex, Fendt is offering an innovative system with a dual wheel hub for dual tyres combined with a stub axle of 2.50 metres with unrestricted type approval. Fendt VarioFlex combines safe, reliable tractive power transfer and good soil protection. VarioFlex is fully integrated in the vehicle as a whole and uses existing tractor components.

With Fendt VarioFlex a second flange can be fitted on both sides of the 2.5-metre stub axle. The system of stub axle and dual wheel hubs reduces the outside width of the tractor to less than 2.55 metres meaning it can gain type approval in markets without any difficulties. Thanks to the duo wheel hub, the full torque is transmitted centrally via the axles. This avoids damage caused by the previous power transmission via the inner rims, which meant special rims were required. The operational reliability of the combination are improved and the dual tyres protect the soil, during mechanical weeding, for example. Fendt VarioFlex enables the use of existing tyres with standard rims with a tyre width of up to 750 millimetres. It is also possible to easily exchange the dual wheel and main wheel at any time. Customers can swap tyres easily to maintain even wear and avoid additional costs for the dual tyres caused by special rims or wheels. The combination of stub axle and dual wheel hubs makes assembling the dual tyres much easier.

Because different crops and cultivation methods require different track widths, with the help of existing spacers the track can be flexibly set. The spacers make it possible to adjust row crops with different track widths for maize, vegetables, asparagus or with narrow tyres. Row usage with a track width of 60 inches is also possible.

Fendt VarioFlex is also fully compatible with the tyre pressure regulation system VarioGrip and wheel weights in the inner rims. This maximises the contact area of the tyres, tractive power increases and less pressure is put on the soil. When driving on roads the tyre pressure can be increased at the touch of a button. This reduces fuel consumption and tyre wear. With VarioFlex this option is already available for dual tyres and increases the overall productivity of the machine. It is controlled via the tractor terminal. Fendt VarioGrip can be ordered directly from the factory for both flanged and stub axles, with dual tyres for row crops and with wheel weights.

Fendt VarioFlex technology is available for the Fendt 600 Vario, 700 Vario Gen7, 900 Vario and 1000 Vario series and can be ordered now.

Optional steering joystick Fendt ErgoSteer

Lots of work in agriculture or in non-agricultural areas requires a large number of steering movements, such as front loader work. Fendt is now offering a steering joystick developed in-house as a retrofit solution.

The Fendt ErgoSteer steering joystick makes quick turning manoeuvres easier, steers precisely and saves time. One click on the Fendt Guide button activates the joystick steering function.

Depending on the type of work involved, the steering joystick offers two modes – self-centring and non-centring mode. In self-centring mode the vehicle automatically drives straight ahead when the joystick is let go. In non-centring mode the wheels remain at the previously-set steering angle when the joystick is let go. This allows drivers to choose the right mode for their job, whether it’s for mowing work on slopes, during use with a wood mulcher or during field work.

Haptic feedback provided by Force Feedback informs the driver about the steering angle, supporting particularly precise steering in the process. As an option, the steering intensity can also be set via the terminal. This helps steering accuracy for the most varied types of work and adjusts driving comfort to the needs of different drivers.

The joystick is mounted on a new, adjustable armrest on the left of the driver’s seat, supplementing the familiar FendtONE armrest on the right. It also has a rocker to change the driving direction similar to the steering column stalk, including a Stop & Go function and a button to activate the Fendt Guide guidance system. There is an activation button for the guide system on the steering joystick. This frees up a button on the right armrest, which can be equipped with other functions. Thanks to the steering joystick drivers can control the full steering lock using their wrist. This enables an upright seating position to be maintained at all times. Working ergonomically avoids tension in the shoulders and neck.

The Fendt ErgoSteer steering joystick can be ordered for all machines from the Fendt 500 Vario to Fendt 1000 Vario with the FendtONE driver workplace and Fendt Guide ready (Power+ or Profi+) from Fendt sales partners as a retrofit solution from December 2023. Like Fendt Guide, the steering joystick can only be used on agricultural areas and farmyards. It is not approved for road transport. For safety reasons, when using the steering joystick the speed of the machine is limited to 25 km/h, just like Fendt Guide.

Mobile assembly help for wheel weights

Some large implements require the addition of weight to optimize the transfer of power to the ground. Statutory requirements also regulate the permissible total weight of tractors on public roads. To work with optimum tractive power and with a high level of soil protection within statutory requirements, agricultural businesses and contractors rely on wheel weights. However, these only offer value added in certain cases, such as when working with heavy soil. In contrast, when working in grassland, they lead to increased soil compaction and when carrying out transport work, they reduce payload. This results in a need for quicker mounting and removal of wheel weights regardless of the location. Fendt offers just the right solution for this. A safe and maintenance-free lifting attachment for wheel weights.

This lifting equipment can pick up wheel weights weighing up to 1,250 kilograms and an internal diameter of at least 400 millimetres. The attachment is picked up with a pallet fork and secured with a chain. The wheel weight can be smoothly adjusted to the hole pattern in the rim. Allowing users to mount or remove their wheel weights quickly, safely and easily.

This mobile lifting equipment can be ordered from Fendt sales partners from December 2023 and used regardless of the manufacturer.

Central telemetry system available for Fendt 200 Vario

For the first time Fendt telemetry is available for the Fendt 200 Vario. This means than it is now possible to fit all Fendt tractors with the AGCO Connectivity Modul (ACM). The information from the telemetry system is displayed in Fendt Connect. This allows customers to read out machine data such as the machine position and extensive CAN bus data such as machine utilisation, speed, working time of the machine or the next service appointment. Customers can also view selected parameters, such as the diesel or AdBlue level, in FendtONE offboard.

The module can now be ordered with the telemetry basic package.
