Outstanding performance at the Equestrian Championships at CHIO Aachen

The World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen, showcases around 98 hours of sporting excellence with 240 competitions across different disciplines over the tournament week. 577 equestrian contenders compete for the prize money of €2.8 million. Spectators can enjoy watching almost 960 horses showing off their extraordinary skills in the tests and performances.

Held in the Soers district of Aachen, this is a special tournament and an important event on the calendar of the participants, coaches and spectators worldwide. "The biggest and greatest tournament has become even bigger and even greater," Monica Theodorescu, National Coach of the German team of dressage riders, said about the CHIO. And that was plain to see from the number of participants. This year's tournament sees the 'A' squad of riders, drivers and vaulters take part across all the disciplines. In jumping, 20 of the 25 best in the world rankings fight for a place on the podium.

As a main sponsor of the national equestrian team, Fendt has a keen interest in the Nations Cup for the disciplines of dressage, show jumping and eventing. Before the Championships, Markus Ehning, long-time member of the German jumping elite, recounted some of his favourite moments from successes of the past year. For him, winning the Nations Cup and the Sunday Jumping event was a dream come true. Luck wasn't quite on the team's side this year, missing out on Gold by just a few milliseconds. This time the deserved winners were the Swedish team. The German riders, Simone Blum, Christian Ahlmann, Daniel Deusser and Markus Ehning were very happy with second place.

Equestrian sports from a different viewpoint – a guided tour of the track

The next decision went down very well with a group of Fendt VIPs. They took part in a guided tour of the circuit while enjoying a front-row position to watch the events. In the Eventing competition, the results came down to the very last rider in a nail-biting finish. And it was the German team – Ingrid Klimke, Josefa Sommer, Andreas Dibowski and Michael Jung – who took Gold in the end.

Monica Theodorescu, the Dressage team trainer, looked hopefully at her team's Nations Cup, as the team – Helen Langehanenberg, Isabell Werth, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Dorothee Schneider – won for the 8th year in a row. The German riders finished well ahead of the Danish and British teams.

Dressage queen, Isabell Werth, celebrated her 50th birthday on Sunday with an individual medal in the Freestyle.

For Carl Meulenbergh, President of the Aachen Laurensberger Riding Club, the CHIO will always belong in Aachen, remarking: "There is no better place in the world to host the CHIO."

Fendt will be the main sponsor of the German equestrian squad in the Olympic disciplines of dressage, show-jumping and three-day eventing until at least 2026. When riders represent Germany at the Nations' Cup or at international horse trials, they wear the Fendt logo.
