Fendt 1050 Vario: No other machine has more power. No other machine uses less diesel.
3 x Fendt 1000 Vario in the DLG PowerMix Test

All three Fendt 1000 Vario models underwent the PowerMix test at the DLG Test Centre, and the

independent tests showed that these Fendt high-horsepower tractors are true working beasts and fuel savers. Both the Fendt 1042 Vario and the Fendt 1046 Vario got the best-value seal in their performance class. The top-end model, the 517-hp Fendt 1050 Vario, sets new standards at just 233 g/kWh (+23 1g/kWh AdBlue).

In the neutral and independent PowerMix Test 2.0 at the new rolling test bench of the German Agricultural Society (DLG), all three models were subjected to the seven familiar working cycles. The verdict of the neutral tests: all three models have the lowest diesel rates ever recorded.

Fendt 1050 Vario in action

In addition to the DLG test, the Fendt 1050 was also put through various driving and practical tests by experts from the specialist magazine, Profi (profi 3/2018).

Profi says: "At the DLG Test Centre we used the PTO shaft brake on the 1050 Vario first. And this is where the new low-speed design comes into its own: at just 1700 rpm, the 380 kW/517 hp rated power (according to ECE R 120) has a formidable 360.3 kW behind it. And performance remains constant down at 1500 rpm, while the torque increases from 2000 to around 2300 Nm. This means output is never excessive. The torque increase is a mere 13.8%, as the engineers from MAN and Fendt have been busy consistently tuning the engine to the stepless drive. This means output is never excessive. "Even with (pure) PTO shaft work e.g. before chipping or milling, the low torque plateau of 1100 rpm provides an impressive level of 'stability'. And when the tractor purrs at optimal range, the consumption values are sensational! Just 204 g/kWh specific consumption at maximum PTO power – it's taking things to a whole new level".

Fendt 1050 Vario 233 g/kWh

Profi: "…at 233 g/kWh (+ +23.1 g/kWh AdBlue), the Fendt 1050 Vario sets another new benchmark. In the main, the Dieselross is almost 20% more economical than all the tractors we have tested so far! With light to medium jobs, consumption can even be 25% less, but still around 15% below the average even working on the heaviest of jobs – excellent!"

Particularly high traction power with variable 4WD

The 500-hp tractor also owes its ground force to the Fendt VarioDrive drive train. The new drive of the Fendt 1000 Vario was developed with the aim of transferring the high engine power with consistent force in every situation, regardless of soil conditions, while keeping speeds particularly low.

Maximum tractive power 313.7 kW

Profi says: "The tractive power is accordingly high. With the new stepless TA400 gearbox, the

DLG Test Centre measured an excellent maximum tractive power of 313.7 kW. What

about the consumption? 236 g/kWh at maximum tractive power is incredible for a

stepless tractor! There is no longer a case for manual transmission. And that

is down to the new design of power-split gearbox, with one of the two oil

motors sitting right over the cardan shaft (profi 10/2017). In practice, you

only notice this 'permanent' 4WD with its agile corner handling 'switching off'

at about 27 km/h by the change in sound – if at all".

Profi: "A few words on the VarioGrip: Thanks to the 720 l/min flanged double compressor with its 12-bar switch-off pressure, you can quickly and easily adjust the tyre pressure from the comfort of your cab. And although VarioGrip will set you back an extra €15,000, this feature is probably one of the most useful of all".

Maximum flow rate 170l/min

Profi: "The right hydraulics: With its large axial piston pump, DLG measured a maximum flow rate of 232.7 l/min at 64.3 kW of usable hydraulic power! And if that's not enough, you can even order a second pump – we love it! We also found the maximum flow rate of 170 l/min by using up to two optional, correspondingly larger hydraulic valves".

Ukrainian entrepreneur has a fleet of 7 Fendt 1038 Varios

Oleksiy Vadaturskyy, CEO of NIBULON, visited the tractor factory at Marktoberdorf on 22 February this year. He wanted to see the 7 new Fendt 1038 Varios for himself, before they were shipped to the south of Ukraine.

In 2007 Oleksiy Vadaturskyy was awarded the country's highest honour, the Hero of Ukraine medal, for his decades of services to farming.

"Our company is a leader in various business sectors in Ukraine. We work with the best companies in Europe and buy the best that European agricultural technology has to offer," explains Oleksiy Vadaturskyy about his decision to buy the 7 new Fendt 1038 Vario tractors.

"We look at the trends in agricultural technology as a whole and in particular from Fendt, i.e. which new models are being built – and then of course we buy the most innovative and most modern. Our decisions are based on performance, efficiency and ergonomics. Reliable technology also plays a part, and that's what you get with the best German agricultural solutions".

The 7 new Fendt large tractors will be distributed across Ukraine. NIBULON manages around 80,000 hectares of arable land in total. The NIBULON Group is also one of the largest Ukrainian grain exporters, with 2 million tonnes of storage capacity and its own fleet of cargo ships.

Going back 20 years, the large-scale farming business had 65 Fendt 824 tractors toiling in its fields. Today, they all have between 28,000 and 42,000 operating hours on the clock.

"We are still successfully running 43 of those tractors," said the 70-year old Director. "Both Fendt and our companies have done such huge work here, and that keeps these tractors in great technical shape. Our tractors work under extremely tough working conditions and around the clock in a range of climates and in all weather conditions. Fendt tractors have proven the outstanding reliability of their farming technology".
