A new Fendt 314 Vario will soon be running on Thies Otte's dairy farm. The compact Fendt tractor comes just at the right time, albeit completely unexpectedly. It is the main prize in a major competition organized by the publisher Landwirtschaftsverlag Münster, which includes the well-known agricultural magazines Topagrar or Elite.

Thies Otte dismissed the first call as a joke, but when e-mails and further calls followed confirming the win, the joy on the Otte farm was enormous. The older tractor, which was previously used on the fields and for feeding in the cowshed, is already getting a bit old. The prize came just at the right time. In the future, the Fendt 314 Vario will be used on the areas around the farm. It will also feed the 216 cows on average in the barn.

Comfort for people and animals

Also in the barn Thies Otte relies on modern and professional technology and comfort. The new cubicle barn for lactating cows is from 2019 and equipped with four automatic milking robots. Some of the cattle and the dry cows have been moved into the former cubicle barn and are allowed out to pasture. Next, he plans to keep the calves in groups of ten. Thies Otte's dairy farm with its biogas plant is located quite picturesquely in Schülp - a small town in Schleswig-Holstein (Germany), right between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea near the border with Denmark.

With its air-suspended seats, air conditioning, multifunctional joystick and digital dashboard as standard equipment, the Fendt 314 Vario offers comfortable solutions for the driver. The compact tractor features the new FendtONE operating philosophy and the innovative Fendt DynamicPower, for extra performance, so that the tractor can provide up to 152 hp of power when needed.

"The Fendt 314 Vario is versatile on a dairy farm. It will become the new farm tractor," says Heiko Knesebeck, Fendt Business Manager, who is delighted with the Otte family for winning. "With DynamicPerformance, the top model in the 300 Series also has additional power reserves when they are needed. However the tractor is still maneuverable and compact. The perfect combination for this farm."
