Vitality Week is now a firm part of the Fendt agenda when it comes to health promotion. This time the focus was on movement – employees could make the most of a varied program, from a Movement-Check and the Moving Lunch, to a quick massages and healthy meals in the company canteen. Over the week, more than 13,000 locally sourced apples were given out, and the Back-Check, Movement-Check and massage sessions were fully booked. Almost 170 employees learnt about how to set up their workplace ergonomically and over 50 people took part in the Back-Fit course. The Asbach-Bäumenheim site can look forward to their Vitality Week in the second week of July
You can have a Back-Check carried out by the german health insurance company AOK, to have your maximum strength and the support between your stomach and back muscles tested on a counterpressure machine.
The Fendt employees were asked questions about their lifestyle and fitness before being given advice on how to improve their training according to the results. Özalp Tolga who works in Production's Turning and Milling team, went for this option. "I do a lot of exercise already, because I'm on my feet all the time at work and do a lot of heavy lifting. But now when I train, I'll concentrate more on the ration of my stomach and back-muscle strength," said Tolga after his Back Check.
„ We want to offer our staff a comfortable place to work"
Peter-Josef Paffen, Chairman of the AGCO/Fendt Management Board, was also there to get some tips on back support. "Awareness about personal health is a matter of great concern," said the Head of Fendt. "We want to offer our staff a comfortable place to work" That includes promoting the health of our workers through prevention. Vitality Week helps us see all the different ways in which every worker can look after themselves, even at work." It also inspires employees to welcome well-being into their everyday lives and to make it a habit.
Among the inspired participants of the Back-Fit course were Sebastian Watzek and Kim Hafmer from Development's Test Engineering team. Both are on their feet a lot at work and want to prevent back problems later on. "We're both signed up for the Back-Check, the Movement-Check and we want to do the Moving Lunch, too," they said. "I'd like to eat more healthily meals in the company canteen, because a combination of both exercise and healthy eating is important to me," said Watzek.
Tuncay Yenmis from Logistics used the Movement-Check to take stock of his own fitness levels. He had his movement measured at five test points on a digital test machine and got advice on how to increase his movement using simple exercises.
"I want to stay healthy and this check-up shows what I can be working on," reports Yenmis after his appointment.
Vitality Week is organised by the Fendt Health Management team, to reinforce the common health philosophy. "We have employees who work at desks and those who work at production stations and they have very different needs," explained Juliane Quaranta-Hoflin, Health Manager at Fendt. Desk-based workers were able to come and learn about how to ergonomically set up their chair and desk. They also got a photo comic produced in-house so they replicate the perfect workplace. "Most brochures on how to adjust your desk ergonomically are pretty boring. That's why we came up with the idea of a photo story with Fendt employees," said the Fendt Health Manager.
"Over the coming year, we'll continue to develop the services we offer and eventually make use of the new company canteen, which is in the planning stages", says Peter-Josef Paffen about the long-term goals of Vitality Week. As well as the Fendt health week there are more health management events happening this year. More than 60 Fendt employees took part in the MTB Auerberg marathon on 12 May, with great success. The Fendt team won confidently in the company standings. Over 60 Fendt employees from Asbach-Bäumenheim registered for the Mnet company run on 21 May. Also on 21 May, the yoga and back-fit courses start for employees at Marktoberdorf, with back-fit courses starting in September at Asbach-Bäumenheim.
