Fendt plant in Asbach-Bäumenheim wins Clever Fox 2023

On October 11th 2023, the Employer's Liability Insurance Association for Wood and Metal (BGHM) awarded the "Clever Fox" safety award to a specially developed cover from the Competence Centre for Cabs in Asbach-Bäumenheim. The innovative cover protects employees from injuries.

The countersink cover developed in Asbach-Bäumenheim

"The Fendt cab plant in Asbach-Bäumenheim receives the Clever Fox for its self-developed countersink cover. The cover reduces the risk of accidents during machining and thus improves the safety and health of employees," the statement from the German Employers' Liability Insurance Association for Wood and Metal said.

"Machining poses two challenges: Firstly, a rotating tool processes the parts. Therefore, our employees are not allowed to wear gloves when changing parts so that they are not caught by the tool. Secondly, the machined parts have sharp edges. Without gloves, our employees could therefore suffer cuts," Stefan Preschl, Master Machinist, explains the background to the development. "We want to protect our employees and as a team we designed this cover for the countersink. The sharp edges on the tool are thus covered and it cannot drag in the gloves. At the same time, the shavings flow downwards unhindered during machining. This way our employees can work safely."

The Employer's Liability Insurance Association for Wood and Metal awards the safety prize - the "Clever Fox" - for projects to improve occupational safety or for outstanding performance. The award was developed for companies that focus on prevention as well as have a strong culture for occupational safety.

The Berufsgenossenschaft awards a special prize for apprentices who are particularly committed to the issue of skin protection at work.
