Fendt at FIMA 2020 in Spain

Fendt attracted thousands of people at the FIMA event, where it showcased an ever-increasing range of agricultural solutions, state-of-the-art technology and won many awards. The professional, festive atmosphere of the event was affected by new demands in agriculture and special attention being paid to the current virus alert.

The presence of Fendt at FIMA gave farmers a welcome distraction from their agricultural problems, which the Spanish government seems to have a hard time finding a solution for, augmented by the growing coronavirus scare. For a moment, farmers were awed by the power and knowledge of agriculture that only a brand like Fendt can offer and presented on the Spanish fair for agricultural Machines.

Fendt understands agriculture. It demonstrated this at FIMA by showcasing its wide range of products; from its versatile Fendt 200 Vario series specialist tractors, to its imposing Fendt 1050 Vario, possibly the most popular photocall at the event. It also unveiled pickup and spraying solutions and a wide variety of forage technology products, such as the new Fendt Slicer FQ front disc mower and the Fendt Former 1502 rake.

lso unveiled at the event was the new Fendt 900 Vario series,. Boasting 415 hp, this model easily handles heavy traction work, significantly exceeding the power of its predecessor and, thanks to the Fendt VarioDrive and the concept of low speed Fendt iD, it also stands out for its exceptional fuel efficiency.

At the fair the Fendt 942 Vario, awarded with the “Tractor of the Year 2020” award, accompanied by the Fendt Tigo forage wagon.

However, the main point of interest by far at the Fendt stand was FendtONE, where Federico Amigo, a Fendt tractor product specialist, explained the new operating philosophy to the crowd of attendees. Featuring a new armrest housing all the tractor’s controls, a newly-designed, ergonomic Multifunction-joystick and the innovative terminal concept, FendtONE is intuitive, easy to operate and transforms your machine into an office in a single space. This offers integrated management focused on work optimisation and even helps manage mixed fleets.

However, Fendt isn’t just about tractors; in addition to its spectacular Fendt 6335 CPLI combine harvester – which stands out for its exclusive MCS threshing system and a unique ParaLevel lateral slope compensation plus longitudinal compensation acting over the rear axle – Fendt also unveiled its new generation of Fendt Rotana round balers, featuring the 160 V Combi rotary baler model. The Fendt Former 1502 hay rake and the Tigo MR 100 Profi self-loading trailer also joined Fendt's forage line-up at FIMA.

If awards are anything to go by, Fendt has plenty to shout about.

Indeed, Fendt received two more awards for technical innovation.

The Fendt IDEALDrive steering system, which already received an award at Agritechnica, won an additional award for technical innovation, in acknowledgment of its innovative, steering system that controls the combine harvester via a joystick, giving the driver an unobstructed view during field pickup work and road transport without a steering wheel. The award was accepted by José Ramón González Casagrán and Christian Erkens, Fendt Business Manager for Spain and Fendt Sales Director for EME, respectively.

After already collecting an award at Agritechnica, the innovative automatic control of complex implement combination in viticulture with a Fendt 200 Vario V/F/P was another innovation prize winner. The result of Fendt’s collaboration with Braun Maschinenbau GmbH, the system is designed for mechanically processing the substrate in a tractor/implement configuration, which all but automates machine control. With this solution, Fendt answers the trend towards mechanically processing the substrate as an alternative to the use of herbicides. With a Fendt 200 V Vario, the tractor/implement setup is controlled by a gyroscope and a laser which sends the necessary data to the terminal via a control unit. The award was accepted by Felix Batzler, an engineer at Braun Maschinenbau GmbH.
