As the DLG trainee program celebrates its 21st year, getting to know Fendt personally was the main focus of the graduates' visit. After a typical Bavarian breakfast of white sausage, the trainees started their tour of the tractor and gearbox plant. Guided through each production step, they could witness first-hand how a Fendt tractor is formed from thousands of parts, as well as the logistically complex work that goes into every product.
They then met Roland Schmidt, Vice President Marketing, himself a former DLG trainee from the program's second year. He reminded the upcoming talent of the various building blocks at Fendt and impressed them with his knowledge and many years of practical experience with the company.
The visit was rounded off with a discussion with new employees, which gave the DLG trainees the chance to find out more about what the Fendt company stands for, how the working day is structured and what qualifications Fendt expects from prospective employees. A young team of Fendt employees were there to chat to the trainees and answer their questions.
Trainee graduate August von Borcke was impressed by the discussion session, "I just liked the way nothing was off limits and they gave really honest answers. And also that here was a team not much older than us yet actively contributing to the success of the company. Really impressive," said August.
Feneke Bremer, who comes from near Cuxhaven, found her day at Fendt particularly interesting from the perspective of a future customer. After completing her DLG traineeship she wants to take over the family business with her sister, managing 800 cows and a biogas and fodder plant. She especially enjoyed the atmosphere in the team on her visit to Marktoberdorf. "I noticed the sense of team spirit," says the future farmer. "Even the employees who have only been there for three months seem to live for the brand and Fendt as a company. It's not just a profession, it's a vocation," laughs Feneke.
Fendt has been sponsoring DLG trainees for a number of years to promote upcoming management talent in the agricultural sector. In 2017/2018, Fendt again sponsored two young staff members to support their DLG training.
