Dr. Benno Pichlmaier accepted into Club of Bologna

Dr. Benno Pichlmaier, Head of Fendt Pre-Development and Director of Global Technology & Innovation at the AGCO Group, has been welcomed into the prestigious "Club of Bologna". The international panel of experts discusses current developments in agricultural technology to make recommendations for regional and international policy.

"I warmly congratulate Dr. Benno Pichlmaier on this honourable achievement. We are very proud that he has been accepted into this prestigious club," said Dr. Heribert Reiter, Managing Director for Research & Development at AGCO/Fendt. "At a time when we are facing major changes almost across the board, sustainable strategies for mechanising and digitising agricultural technology are more important than ever. Benno Pichlmaier is just the right expert we need at this point."

Leading figures in agricultural technology founded the "Club of Bologna" in 1989 to discuss topics of particular importance for the agricultural technology sector, independently and across the board.

The Club of Bologna currently has 93 members from 27 countries representing different groups. These include universities and research centres, agricultural equipment manufacturers, international organisations and experts, as well as consultants.

The members meet once a year at an international agricultural technology fair, such as the EIMA in Bologna, Agritechnica in Hanover and Agrilevante in Bari. These meetings address current trends and developments with the aim of developing collective recommendations for policies, research, manufacturers and international bodies.

Dr. Benno Pichlmaier has been with the company since 2011 and was initially responsible for the pre-development of the Fendt brand. Since May 2017, he has also been heading up research and pre-development for all brands, as Director of Global Technology & Innovation at the AGCO Group.

After training as a car mechanic and completing his Mechanical Engineering Degree at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), he received his doctorate under Prof. Karl TH. Renius at the Technical University of Munich in the traction management of tractors.
