Fendt 942 Vario excels in the DLG PowerMix test

The Fendt 942 Vario has undergone 12 load cycles and 2 transport tests in the PowerMix Test at the DLG Test Centre. At 237 g/kWh (+ 32 g/kWh Ad Blue), the top-end model of the 900-series proved its exceptional efficiency and achieved a rating that surpassed even its predecessor.

The Fendt 942 Vario was put through its paces on the dynamometer as part of the independent DLG (German Agricultural Society) PowerMix Test 2.0. The cycles mirror practical field and transport work and include tasks with the plough and cultivator, rotary harrow, mower, muck spreader or baler. To rate efficiency on the road, light and heavy transport work are also tested.

"The Fendt 900 Vario's intended tasks include heavy tractive work, and, at 415 hp, this high-end model of the series is significantly more powerful than its predecessor. The result of just 237 g/kWh shows true engineering talent. With the Fendt VarioDrive powertrain and the Fendt iD low-speed concept, we have developed an efficient tractor for heavy-duty but also diverse work, and yet one that is extremely fuel-efficient," says Roland Schmidt, Vice President Fendt Marketing.

Fendt 942 Vario in the profi driving report

When the Fendt 942 Vario was launched, experts from the trade magazine Profi (08/2019) praised the low-speed concept of the 415-hp machine after test-driving the high-horsepower tractor.

Profi writes: "The 6-cylinder MAN engine with low-speed concept always provides full power in the range of 1,500 to 1,700 rpm. The low-speed concept is fascinating to experience on the road. The new 900 series can actually reach 40 km/h at just 950 rpm (at 50 km/h at 1,200 rpm, 60 km/at h exactly 1,450 rpm)."

Eight Fendt tractors in the Top 10

Of all the tractors ever tested in the independent DLG PowerMix Test, Fendt has eight tractors in the top 10. Most notably, the heavy-duty tractors Fendt 1000 Vario and Fendt 900 Vario. The top three spots are held by the three models of the Fendt 1000 Vario series, having achieved the best results in the PowerMix Test 2.0 in 2017. Then comes the Fendt 942 Vario – the only tractor in the test that meets Emissions Standard Stage V. In sixth to eighth place are previous Fendt 900 Vario models, with the Fendt 828 Vario in 9th place. These tractors all passed DLG PowerMix Test 1.0.

Economical and environmentally friendly

The new 900-series uses 5g/kWh less diesel than its predecessor, the Fendt 939 Vario. On top of lower fuel costs, there are fewer CO2 emissions – an all-important aspect for the environment.
