For almost a year the Corona-pandemic has determined our day to day life but also the economy worldwide. Some industries, and thus also the people employed in them, have been severely affected by economic repercussions. The French employees of Fendt are therefore supporting the initiative “Farmers with heart”.

Foodbanks in France are more in demand

In less than a year, demand for food aid has increased by up to 20 percent. A recent study from France shows: around 35 percent of the foodbank recipients have only been dependent on the help of additional and free food supply in the last six years. This affects a wide range of groups, from students to employees in the entertainment industry to workers in the food service industry.

“We are not farmers, but as an agricultural equipment manufacturer, Fendt is part of the food supply chain. Therefore it is important for us to support here. The agricultural sector has hardly been affected economically by the pandemic. For this reason, we want to take responsibility here and show solidarity”, says Olivier Leroy, Fendt Retail Market Manager for Western Europe.

Give a smile with tractor pasta

For the donation, Fendt chose a pasta manufacturer from Charente-Maritime (Western France), which sells the majority of its products in delicatessen stores in the west of France. To match with the tractor manufacturer Fendt, the pasta was produced in the shape of a tractor. A total of 2.000 packages of pasta (about 500kg) were donated to the food bank network.

The ordered packages arrived at the end of February and were distributed to volunteers and food banks by tractor. “We received a very warm welcome, which shows us that the initiative was worthwhile. We also hope that by delivering the 500 kg of pasta, many people in need will have a full place. The tractor shape of the pasta will hopefully put a smile on the face of children in particular”, adds Oliver Leroy.
