On 3 October, the Fendt spirit was celebrated in Manzanares (Ciudad Real) with more than 200 tractors, various harvesting machines and almost 3,000 visitors. After five years, the popular Fendt tractor meeting "Fendtgüinos" took place for the first time in the Spanish region of La Mancha.

A farm of over 70 hectares in Manzanares, Ciudad Real, in the Spanish region of Castilla-La Mancha, was the venue for the 9th Fendtgüinos, the largest Fendt festival in Spain.

La Mancha is the largest wine-growing region in the world and its agriculture is constantly being professionalised. These factors make it a unique growth market for the brand with great potential for the future. Despite delays in this year's harvest, many farmers still took the time to visit the Fendtgüinos.

The event was opened by José Ramón González, Fendt Sales Director for Spain and Portugal. Impressed, he said: "We haven't celebrated the Fendt Festival for five years and today Fendtgüinos is finally taking place again. We are looking forward to it. Today we will be presenting many new products and a new tractor series that will revolutionise the mid and high power segment. The new 600 series represents a milestone, just like the Vario at the end of the 1990s."

From tractors to telehandlers, everything was on show

The entire Fendt product range was presented, from the small Fendt 200 Vario to combines and forage harvesting machines and the coveted Fendt 1050 Vario.

Spread over various areas of the site, there were special areas for soil cultivation and demonstrations of the latest Fendt technology (PTx) in field cultivation. There was also a station for (highly qualified) telescopic and front loader work, an area for harvesting and forage harvesting machines and, of course, a special area for working in the vineyard with the Fendt 200 Vario in standard and special versions.

Classic tractors were also well represented by the Castellar Classic Tractor Club, the La Aljambra Classic Tractor Association and the La Mancha Agricultural Memory Club. The club members welcomed classic car enthusiasts to their pavilion and never tired of posing for photos.

Mario Lallana, Fendt Product Engineer, was responsible for organising the event and was attending for the first time. He described his own experience as follows: "We are proud of how many people travelled to spend the day with us and our machines. We were really looking forward to the Fendtgüinos. We offered everyone the opportunity to test the model of their choice. The Fendt 600 Vario, fresh from the factory, and the tractors with the revolutionary Fendt VarioDrive drive line were the most popular. We also brought along the latest combine harvesters and harvesting machines to showcase the Fendt range."

The new Fendt 600 Vario - Naturally superior

If there was one protagonist that stood out this year, it was the new Fendt 600 Vario, the brand new four-cylinder from Fendt. It was presented for the first time in Spain and its outstanding performance in the field dispelled any preconceptions.

With the new Fendt 600 Vario series, Fendt presents a universal tractor in the medium power segment with a 4-cylinder engine from 164 hp to 224 hp. All four models in this series feature two of the hallmarks of the large tractors: a new AGCO Power 5-litre engine, which enables low engine speeds and maximum torque at just 1,200 rpm, and the Fendt VarioDrive driveline. This innovative transmission is a further development of the proven Vario transmission and distributes the power independently and intelligently to the two axles as required. This optimises fuel consumption and eliminates the need to manually engage the all-wheel drive or change working ranges.

Other features of this series include the VarioGrip tyre pressure regulation system, which can be seen in the tyre marking area, the 4-way PTO, a very comfortable cab, the option of fitting a front loader with bucket ex works and the familiar FendtONE operator environment.

The Fendt Cargo T telehandler was already presented at Demoagro 2023, but here too the lift cab outperformed its tractor counterparts. With its glass-fronted cab, which can be raised up to 4 metres above the ground and thus offers a perfect all-round view of the surroundings and the possibilities, the telehandler is particularly impressive when loading trailers or trucks.

Fendt partner at Fendtgüinos

Other premium brands such as Ovlac, Aguirre, Maschio Gaspardo, Michelin, Trelleborg Tires, Defender, PTx Trimble and Repsol were represented at the Fendtgüinos in the various work areas, demonstrating the symbiosis that results from working with a brand like Fendt in the field.

Brands such as UPA, Grupo Editorial Agrícola, Interempresas, Profesional Agro, Vida Rural, Agrotécnica, eComercio Agrario, Portal Tecnoagrícola, AGCO Finance and AGCO Parts were also on site.

Fendt has also been working with a very special partner for several years now: Rosae. Rosea is the association of women affected by breast cancer in Valdepeñas, which brought along the now traditional so-called charity cup. This ecological, reusable and fully recyclable drinking cup was specially developed for the event. The cup could be purchased for one euro and gave visitors the right to refill the cup again and again with drinks, while the field remained free of waste. This option was well received by visitors, as all proceeds from the sale of these cups were donated to this organisation. A total of 2,668 euros was raised at this Fendtgüinos, which will now benefit women affected by breast cancer.

The grand show for dessert

All visitors were able to enjoy typical local dishes. For the hungry, there was the traditional farmer's dish migas, lean pork and the local speciality Miguelitos de la Roda, a puff pastry filled with cream. These tasty treats got everyone ready for the show in the central exhibition area.

Juan Mari Guajardo, spokesman for the Vuelta Ciclista a España and official announcer of the Fendtgüinos, and Mario Lallana, Product Engineer at Fendt, ensured that the big show generated lasting enthusiasm that was shared on social networks. The opening of the show, in which the Fendt 600 Vario demonstrated its manoeuvrability and power against an 820, was an experience in itself.

A Fendt 722 Vario Gen7 with sprayer demonstrated the possibilities of section control and variable rate control for documentation and tracking, while at the same time protecting the environment and conserving resources. The presentation also included an explanation of how this is possible from home or the office thanks to FendtONE offboard.

Paco demonstrated loading work that can now be carried out without a steering wheel using the ErgoSteer joystick. The joystick made the work seem almost as easy as in a video game. Gonzalo's expertise gave the impression that the Fendt 210 P Vario could drive itself.

José used a 728 Vario Gen7 to demonstrate the importance of good suspension on very uneven terrain, even at high speeds and with an attached implement. The comfort of the Fendt tractors was impressively demonstrated by the Fendtgüinos.

And in case anyone still had any doubts about the tractive power of a Fendt, a Fendt 514 Vario even pulled a Fendt 900 Vario, one of the largest Fendt tractors including a trailed cultivator.

But one video went straight viral on social media: in a race, David with a Fendt 728 Vario competed against Jordi with a Fendt 930 Vario. The enthusiastic spectators were left in a cloud of Manchego dust. These two 300 hp tractors have similarities and differences. In this race, both demonstrated their common strength: stability in turns at high speeds thanks to the Fendt Stability Control system.

All of these tests were carried out by highly qualified experts and as part of a comprehensive safety concept that protects both the participants and the drivers. These operations should not be carried out at home.

A Fendt 1261 Vario at the end

The eventful day ended with Fabio Garavelli, Sales Director Southern Europe, in the driver's seat of a Fendt 211 Vario, which in turn was lifted and driven by a Fendt 1050 Vario with a special rear attachment. This combination with a total of 9 cylinders and seats for 4 people was dubbed the Fendt 1261 Vario. The Fendt 1261 Vario led the final parade of the real Fendtgüinos, i.e. those who took part in the event with their Fendt tractor. With an impressive parade, everyone said goodbye until the next event, which hopefully won't be too long in coming.
