Action day #TEAMFENDT: From the office and factory to the cowshed and the field

22 Fendt employees from different departments volunteer for a day on farms in the Allgäu.

Mucking out horse boxes, harvesting green fodder and thinning out apple trees: On two campaign days in May and June, 22 Fendtlers swapped spanners and keyboards for pitchforks and high-pressure cleaners. On the Allgäu farms, each of them lent a hand where help was needed. The tasks were as varied as agriculture itself and differed from farm to farm. The aim of the campaign, called #TEAMFENDT, was to help farmers with their daily work and learn more about farming in the process. The teams went to the grassland to mow or spread slurry in the fields, to the cowshed for hoof care - the cow's pedicure - or to the horse stable to muck out

A look behind the scenes

From marketing to production and development: the participants came from various departments and work areas at the Marktoberdorf site. All employees received first-hand information, unadulterated insights into different types of operations, from dairy farms and horse husbandry to fruit and vegetable cultivation, and learnt more about the practical use of Fendt technology.

"I was able to show the Fendt employees how diverse agriculture really is today and that the media's image doesn't always fit," summarised one participating farmer. In addition to their work, the employees used the time to talk to the farmers about agricultural policy and current challenges in agriculture.

Between automation and manual labour

Just like the Fendt machines, there is still a lot of manual labour in the agricultural products, despite digitalisation and automated processes. While a feeding robot makes its rounds on one of the dairy farms and ensures that there is always enough feed available, apple trees are thinned out by hand. "I didn't realise before how much manual labour is required for an apple," says Deniz Petrecca from the transmission plant. He spent the campaign day with a fruit grower in the Allgäu region. The rain of the past few days made it impossible to use the tractors in the field, so the Fendt team quickly got to work on the apple orchard.

At the end of the day, all participants met back at the Fendt plant with dirty clothes and a smile on their faces.
